Surgical Care
We address more than just fertility problems, surgically treating a number of gynecological conditions via less invasive, less expensive, and less painful methods.
We provide a complete range of expert surgical treatment for gynecologic conditions including endometriosis, fibroids, pelvic pain, uterine or pelvic adhesions, blocked Fallopian tubes, ectopic and cornual pregnancy, abnormal uterine bleeding, and ovarian cysts.
Laparoscopy is surgery performed for issues involving the pelvic cavity. Instruments are placed through small incisions in the abdomen to perform surgeries that used to require large abdominal incisions (think bikini line incisions). It is less invasive, less expensive, and less painful than traditional surgery, and can offer patients faster recovery times. These procedures are performed at the hospitals or surgical centers in the area.
We use laparoscopy for conditions and procedures such as:
- Excision of Endometriosis
- Myomectomy
- Lysis of Adhesions
- Presacral Neurectomy
- Excision of Ovarian Remnants
- Ovarian Cystectomy
- Hysterectomy
- Repair of Uterine or Pelvic Anomalies
- Transposition of Ovaries
- Repair of Blocked Fallopian Tubes
Hysteroscopy is surgery performed for issues involving the uterine cavity, with instruments placed through the cervix (without abdominal incisions!). It can be performed at Wisconsin Fertility Institute for diagnostic purposes, or to repair small problems in the uterus. For procedures that require more time and may lead to more intra-operative pain, the surgeries are performed in the hospitals or surgical centers in the area.
We use hysteroscopy for conditions and procedures such as:
- Asherman’s Syndrome (Intrauterine Adhesions)
- Myomectomy
- Polypectomy
- Tubal Cannulation
- Excision of Uterine Septum
- Excision of Vaginal Septum
Robotic surgery is a new technique that allows surgery to be performed through small incisions just as with laparoscopy. However, with the assistance of the robot, dexterity for the surgeon is increased, incision site pain appears to be decreased, and visualization of the pelvis can be more accurate, which may allow repair of the disease more completely.
